Description

Charcoal and Acrylic on Canvas on Panel
21.2 x 15.7 Inches (Framed)

This is a black, white and gray tone painting of a bridge in the Beazell Memorial Forest.

The wooden bridge is in the left foreground with a plank decking and rough lumber railings. Beyond it, dark vertical lines outline tall, slender trees with an indication of branches. A path leading into the right side of the painting, winds between trees and on. A mass of darker strokes near the path, suggest foliage and undergrowth. A subtle background suggesting further trees rendered in lighter shades of gray creates a sense of depth.

This black and white monochromatic painting focuses on tonal values. Brushstrokes are visible, and forms are not highly detailed reflecting a more spontaneous, impressionistic approach aimed at capturing the essence of the scene. The lines, particularly in the trees, have a calligraphic quality, varying in thickness and pressure, adding a sense of dynamism and texture.

The painting is mounted in a hand made, hand painted, wooden “floating frame”.
